Position5 Is Now a Data Engineering Consultancy
A few weeks ago I wrote about the crossroads, the decision between the corporate path and building something independently. That decision is made. Position5 is here, and it’s growing.
Today I’m making it official: Position5 is expanding from a software studio into a software studio and data engineering consultancy.
How we got here
This didn’t come from a business plan. It came from building Arcana and Sigil.
I spent months processing 83 million trades with fault tolerance, constructing information-driven bars that respect market microstructure, and optimizing a strategy engine to iterate through hundreds of configurations in minutes instead of hours. All data engineering problems. And solving them built a skill set that applies way beyond trading.
The same engineering that builds a reliable trading data pipeline can build a reliable marketing data pipeline. The same approach that processes millions of trades can process millions of ad impressions. The optimization work that made Sigil fast applies directly to making business analytics pipelines fast enough for real decisions.
What this looks like in practice
Businesses have data problems that look different from trading but share the same engineering underneath:
- Marketing teams sitting on platform data they can’t use well. Raw campaign data from ad platforms is basically unprocessed trade ticks. It needs a pipeline to become actionable.
- Companies trying to optimize CAC (customer acquisition cost) but lacking the data infrastructure to test strategies at scale. It’s the same problem Sigil solves for trading strategies.
- Organizations that need custom data pipelines but don’t have the in-house engineering to build them with production-grade reliability.
Position5 now offers data engineering consulting for exactly these problems. Pipeline architecture, marketing analytics, CAC optimization, and data strategy, all built with the same engineering that powers our products.
What stays the same
Position5 is still a software studio. Still building products. Nova-Core still powers our licensing and distribution. QuinnFAQ still generates AI-powered FAQ pages. Arcana still ingests trading data. Sigil still processes strategies. OpenTN still makes campaign finance data accessible.
The products aren’t going anywhere. The consultancy adds a new way to apply the engineering skills that Position5 has been building from day one. When we solve a data problem for a client, we learn things that make our products better. When we build products, we develop patterns that make our consulting more effective. They feed each other.
What’s new
The site now reflects the expanded identity. The blog will cover data engineering in business contexts alongside the quantitative trading work. And Position5 is now available for consulting engagements in data pipeline architecture, marketing analytics, CAC optimization, and custom data solutions.
If your team is sitting on data it can’t use well, or you need a pipeline built with the same care we bring to processing millions of trades, let’s talk.
The same engineering that handles the hard parts of real-time market data is ready to handle the hard parts of your data. That’s the Position5 philosophy: the support that makes the team win.
